How would you cope if you were a young model with a career taking off – then one day it all ends when a dog attacks your face and rips out part of your lip and nasal cavity? Schylar’s rise from the incident is incredibly inspiring.
In June of 2010, Schylar was walking along the street with her friend when out of no where a neighbor’s dog jumped and attacked her. The boxer went right for her face and with it’s powerful jaw left her with serious damage to her lip, nasal cavity and mouth. Schylar was devasted. At just 14 years old, Schylar’s modeling career had already taken off – and now in just seconds, with a lip and nasal cavity ripped out and blood all over her face and hands… it seemed her modeling career and future aspirations were all but over.
Though damaged physically and emotionally, Schylar vowed to rise again. After 60 stitches, dental surgery and a plastic surgeon that all but pulled off a miracle she was ready to start making lemonade out of the lemons life handed her. Schylar was ready to get in front of the camera once more.
About 3 weeks ago, through an organization called Models Helping Models and it’s wonderful founder David Kidd, I was made aware of Schylar’s story and future ambitions. She was now wanting to rebuild her portfolio and I was excited to be part of the team that would help her do that. Together with Rachel Koszegi (Make-up Artist) and Jennifer O’Bannon (Fashion Stylist) we set out to help Schylar with some new images. I was amazed at how talented the team was and Schylar absolutely rocked it out. Big thanks also to David Kidd and Ford Model, Nick Koester, for their help with the shoot as well. Here are some of the images we were able to create during our time together yesterday afternoon out in the sweltering heat.
Expect big things from Schylar! She’s is one dedicated fighter and an inspiration to all of us!
Thank you Rachel, Jennifer, David, Nick and especially Schylar for the amazing afternoon and wonderful shoot.

Summer Driggs - What an amazing story Trevor. She is just beautiful and definitely was born to do this! I truly believe that we all are blessed with talents, and sometimes in life things try to get in the way to keep us from doing those talents. But, the most important thing is to figure out how to get over the hurdles and do what we were meant to do. Schylar has done that. And while we’re speaking of talents, you get better each day; which seems impossible to me. But you do and you are an inspirational photographer Trevor!
